Dunnaway - Good is Dumb EP

I bought this Ep for R20 (±$2) at a Dunnaway show after I had to leave early. And I'd say this is really worth the buy. Allthough the cover art isn't exactly brilliant and the cover is only a photostat, that doesn't mean this is a bad cd, not by a long shot. The cover, at least, does contain the lyrics to all the songs on the cd, which is more than I can say for some bands. My only main complaint about it is, it is too short. I know it's just an Ep, but I'd still have preferred it to be a little longer. It's a little less than twelve minutes long, with six songs an intro and an outtro. All of the songs are brilliant. First is Symbolic, a great way to start it, followed by Something Wrong, which is a little more hardcore. Next is One less Broken, a little more melodic, but I'd say one of my favorites. After As I look into your eyes (which is a great song), comes Hotbox, which was written by the Dingleberries. The Ep ends of with You are the Scene, which is an absolutely brilliant song. As I said, a little short, but still good (even though good is dumb)

Family Business Compilation

This is the compilation by [R]evolution. This is one of the best cd's I own. It is filled with 27 songs, 18 South-African bands (with only 2 or 3 on [R]evolution), 6 bands from Fat Wreck Chords, and 3 from the UK's Hectic Records. This is truly a united effort, not in all the different bands on here, but also all the different styles, there's something for everyone here, hardcore, ska, emo and just plain punk rock. Featuring songs by Fuzigish, The Vendetta Cartel, ATFN, Crossing Point, Neshamah, Ignorance is Typical, Humphrey the Teacup, Leek A.T.B.U. Sibling Rivalry, Hog Hoggidy Hog, Dunnaway and lots more, it's got a really good selection of South-African bands on it. The Fat Wreck Bands, Strung Out, Rise Against, The Lawrence Arms, Good Riddance, Zero Down and Tilt are brilliant as ever and the UK contribution is also great. This compilation is a must. You can pick it (I think) at most local shows for R50 and you can order it online from Revolution. About international sales, I don't know, you'll have to find out at Revolution.

Petflyz - Here Goes Everything

This is Petflyz's first full length album. With only 10 tracks on it, it's a little short, but not too short. The songs are mostly pop-punk with a little emo, with some of the best lyrics around. The cover contains the lyrics to all the songs except Lucky Guy and 18 and free to go. Besides that, ummm, really great guitar? Not too much to say here. It's a good cd, but by no means the best in my collection

Ignorance is Typical - Think Before you swallow

If you don't know that ignorance is typical is brilliant, you have to have to get that into your head, or buy this cd and have it beaten into your head. This is quite simply a brilliant cd. Eight tracks of technical punk/metal crossover. By far some of the best stuff I've ever heard. Most of the songs are longer than average, only two of the nine are shorter than 2 minutes and 2 reach the four-minute mark. The cover production isn't too bad, except for no lyrics, which is dissapointing. And for not listing the last track, so I have no idea what it's name is. Brilliant drumming, brilliant guitar, brilliant vocals, brilliant bass, what more can I say? Don't play this to your parents?

Bad Religion - Against the Grain

I love Bad Religion and I'll probably still listen to them sometime in the year 2050 when they are nothing more than a memory. However judging by the way they've been going over the last couple of decades, they'll probably still be turning out albums. This album is very very good. It's not very loud or anything and very melodic, as can be expected from Bad Religion. The lyrics, as always, are fantastic, with contributions from Greg Graffin, Brett Gurewitz and Jay Bentley and everyone wrote at least one songs music except for the drummer. All 17 songs are great. This cd also contains the first recording of 21'st Century Digital Boy. The cover is good, with all the lyrics, but no track listing, unfortunately. Go out and buy this cd, remember, unlawful duplication is hazardous to your health.
